Hey guys!
In the last months I wasn't so much in reading books but since the new school year started I'm back to it. First I read Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde which was kinda impressing but then I found the book „The Perks Of Being A Wallflower“ by Stephen Chbosky.

Actually I found it through some actors because the book is made into a movie and airs sometime next year. A lot of my favorite actors will be in that movie so I decided to read the book first and I'm really happy that I did. In my opinion everyone has a story in the book which they can compare to. Even if it's just a line or a paragraph. You will find yourself in that book.
But first I should tell you what the book is about.
The main character is a fifteen year old guy called Charlie. He is about to enter high school as a freshman and that scares him a lot. That's why he starts writing letters to a stranger because he needs to talk to someone who „doesn't try to sleep with people even if they could have.“. In the whole book we don't get to know who that person is and Charlie just calls him „dear friend“ in the beginning of every letter.
Charlie is truly a wallflower. He doesn't have many friends (actually he doesn't really have any friends) but he's good in school and only gets straight As. In the beginning of the book he gets to know Patrick and Sam who are in there last year of school and they show Charlie how to „participate“ in life because that's what Charlie is ought to do by his English teacher. With this friendship a lot of things change for him because Patrick and Sam smoke, they go to parties and they are just different than the rest of the people he knows.
That's mainly what the book is about and I in my opinion it's a great book and everyone can refer to it. Charlie is someone who thinks a lot about different things. Most of the time he thinks too much about everything but that's the reason why I felt so connected to him. He over thinks everything and every single move someone makes and at the end he doesn't really know what to think. The book had me hooked from the first page which doesn't happen to me that often. I can safely say that it become my favorite book in a few pages.
Throughout the story Charlie makes different mix tapes for different people to remember when they felt infinite and those songs are just great. The most important song probably is „Asleep“ by The Smiths. It comes over and over in the book and if you listen to this song you'll know why.
In my opinion Charlie says a lot in the book what other people would never say because they're too afraid to be honest. But not just Charlie says a lot of important things. The other characters like Sam and Patrick also have thoughts that everyone else has.
It's also really easy to read even for a none English speaker. So it's not a book were you have to look up words or expressions because you don't know them. You can just read it like a diary of a fifteen year old which is great. Everyone has felt those things like Charlie in some way.
I think everyone should read this book or at least go and watch the movie when it's in cinemas. The story is great and I know the movie will be too because they are a lot of talented actors in it.
Here's a first look at the movie:
I hope you liked that quick review of The Perks Of Being A Wallflower and if you read the book or already read it, let me know what you think about. I can't wait to watch the movie and until then I gonna read the book over and over again.
Love always
